Terrariums are so in these days. Not because it comes in designer style glass domes and bowls, but because it is one of the easiest plants to care for besides the cactus. You might be surprised that having a terrarium is good for your home environment. It is known as an anti-pollution plant, capable of absorbing bad air, especially cigarette smoke. It is a plus point that terrariums come in beautiful, minimalist style now because there are many designs to choose from. Terrariums can be purchased online these days, but if you are up for a DIY challenge, you can learn how to make your own terrarium at Malaysian singer and songwriter Yuna’s Tiny Forest Terrariums.
Word of advice: cat owners, make sure you don’t let your cat go anywhere near your plant, otherwise there won’t be a plant left. #personalexperience

Mirrors make an interesting home decoration. Putting up a mirror in your living room enhances light and space. A large mirror creates the illusion of depth, which is why some places with big mirrors makes the room look spacious. Having a mirror as part of your decoration also gives a modern tone. Of course, it would be great if you make your mirror a focal point, such as placing it at your main entrance of your living room. Remember that you only need one mirror to decorate your space, and don’t go nuts by putting an extra mirror in the kitchen or the staircase area.

A decorative bowl is a versatile deco piece. You can have a couple of colour or design coordinated bowls around the home, and place it on the coffee table, cabinet, bookshelves or even as a centerpiece at the dining table. Like the paperweight, decorative bowls are equally great for organizing little knicks-knacks around the house. You can use it to store coins, keys or your hair clips and getah rambut– you know, in case you are rushing and don’t have the time to do your hair. Haha!

Decorating your home can be really fun, and sometimes we can get carried away too. I have to admit, I get tempted too to decorate with wacky ideas or mismatch colours (gosh, everything is just too pretty). But as what I would tell myself, I would say to you, always remember to choose a theme, research your favourite designs, keep it simple and stylish and buy it in pairs or sets of threes. There are certainly ways to make your home look like an interior design magazine, without breaking the bank! All you need to do is invest wisely in key pieces to highlight each space!
